Studying at First Base Training

At First Base Training we pride ourselves on delivering high level education and training that suits each students needs.

It doesn’t matter whether you are ready to take the plunge and challenge yourself in the workplace, or if you prefer to start afresh amongst your classroom peers before transitioning into the industry – we have a learning environment that suits you.

Our suite of qualifications have long-established foundations, making First Base Training a clever choice for any individual wishing to join.

We offer our students two delivery modes of training: classroom training and workplace training.

Classroom training

This mode of training allows students to learn the knowledge and skills relevant to their chosen course in a simulated classroom environment.

Our experienced and qualified Trainers deliver the formal course work needed for students to achieve their units of competency in a face-to-face setting.

Learning and progress is evaluated by a series of written assessments that are assessed to accredited standards. Support is given on a regular basis in the classroom by a number of educational operations including group work, role play, simulated learning scenarios, and simulated workplace activities.

Students receive consistent feedback and development from their Trainers, the Student Support Team, and their classroom peers.

Workplace training

This mode of training is when individuals learn all the knowledge and skills relevant to their chosen course in the workplace.

Individuals achieve their units of competency while actively working on-the-job. This form of training delivery is interactive and hands-on, and well-suited to people who prefer to learn by doing.

Our experienced and qualified Trainers regularly visit students in the workplace to assess their achievements, ensure they are meeting their performance criteria, monitor their progress, and provide further support and guidance.

Feedback, support and development is provided on a regular basis in the workplace by continuous supervision from the employer. Consistent feedback is also given by the assigned Trainer/Assessor, as well as the First Base Training Student Support Team.

Learning and progress is evaluated by a series of written assessments that are marked to accredited standards.

Unique Student Identifier

What is a USI?

A Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a string of ten numbers and letters which acts as an identification code allowing learners to access a single online record of their VET training and achievements across all training institutes.

From 1st January 2015, all students that undertake nationally recognised training with First Base Training need to have a USI prior to commencing a course.

Students can authorise First Base Training to create a USI on their behalf during the enrolment process or choose to obtain a USI themselves. Please note that when registering for a USI number, you will need to give permission for an RTO e.g. First Base Training to view your records and your USI.

If you are unsure if you currently hold a USI, you can also find or check your USI.

To learn more, please watch the short video about USI’s and how to create your own.
