Overview
The CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support qualification (colloquially known as Cert III in Aged Care or Cert III in Disability Support) reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to assist people who may require person-centred support due to ageing, disability, or other reasons.
Completing the CHC33021 – Certificate III in Individual Support qualification is the first step for many of our students who wish to embark on a fulfilling and rewarding career in the Aged Care industry. Our CHC33021 course features passionate and expert trainers who take great pride in helping each student to gain the tools, knowledge, and hands-on experience to excel in this career path.
Students will be immersed in a mixture of theory and practical hands-on learning to consolidate and develop their skills. First Base Training will also arrange work placement for students to acquire valuable first-hand experience and gain an opportunity to encounter potential career pathways within the Aged Care industry.

Details
Course Requirements
To achieve a CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing & Disability), a total of 15 units of competency must be completed, 9 core units, plus 6 elective units.
Practical Placement
To attain this qualification, students are required to undertake 120 hours of supervised Practical Placement. Our Practical Placement Team will arrange a suitable, regulated Aged care service for you which caters for a range of individuals.
Entry Requirments
You will need to apply for a National Police Check as it will be required for attending Practical Placement.
FBT’s enrolment process is designed to ensure students enrol into a suitable qualification and includes:
A suitability discussion to affirm students’ needs and desired outcomes
A Language, Literacy and Numeracy Test (LLN) to ensure students have the basic skills necessary for completion of course

NSW Fee Free* improves access to training for young people, job seekers, First Nations People, unpaid carers, women undertaking study in non-traditional trades and certain categories of visa holders.
As a Smart and Skilled contracted training provider, we can deliver fee-free full qualification courses between now and 30th June 2024.
*This training is subsidised by the NSW Government.
Who is eligible?
Smart and Skilled provides eligible students with:
an entitlement to government-subsidised training up to and including Certificate III
government funding for higher-level courses (Certificate IV and above) in targeted priority areas.
Under Skills NSW, you may be able to study a fee-free course if you are:
15 years old or over
no longer at school
living or working in NSW
an Australian citizen, permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen.

Practical placement:
First Base Training’s Certificate III in Individual Support course is designed and structured to ensure that each student receives theoretical and hands-on training. To fulfil the practical aspect of the course, all students are required to undergo 120 hours of supervised placement in an aged care setting. First Base Training secures your practical placement to ensure you have an opportunity to work in the appropriate environment and setting for your studies.
While undertaking your practical placement, you will also be required to demonstrate performace-based assessments.

Once you complete the Certificate III in Individual Support course, you will also attain a nationally recognised qualification that allows you to work nationally in aged care (Australia-wide).
If you are interested in continuing your studies, you will then meet the requirements to enrol into the CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support qualification.
