Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care

Course Duration: 45 weeks

This qualification reflects the role of educators in early childhood education and care who work in regulated children’s education and care services in Australia. Students will support the wellbeing of children, as well as their development in the context of an approved learning framework. Educators use a range of well-developed skills and knowledge using discretion and judgment when carrying out their work in the context of established policies and proceduress.

Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care

Course Duration: approximately 1 year

For students who wish to pursue further studies, this qualification reflects the role of educators. At this level, they will be responsible for designing and implementing curriculum that meets the requirements of an approved learning framework. Graduates will use specialised knowledge, and apply theoretical concepts to diverse work situations. They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other educators.

  • For an early childhood educator, there’s no such thing as a typical day! Each day is as different as the next but equally as rewarding being a part of the development, learning and growth of children.

    Early childhood educators interact with children ranging from the ages of 0 to 6, providing dutiful care and supervision in a variety of different settings including Long Day Care Centres, Preschools, Family Day Care, Before and After School settings, Vacation Care and more. In this profession, educators deal closely with families to ensure the best quality education and care is given so that each individual child can thrive and grow in a nurtured environment.

    The types of tasks that early childhood educators may perform on any given day include:

    • Monitoring and supervising the daily routines of children

  • Depending on the type of role that you are looking for, there is a diverse range of early childhood education courses available to you.

    The minimum qualification needed to become an Early Childhood Educator is the CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. This nationally recognised qualification reflects the role of educators in a range of early childhood education settings, operating within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and National Quality Standards.

    We also offer the CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care qualification, which aims to support educators working across a range of early childhood services. It has a strong emphasis on contemporary early childhood theories and provides you with a pathway to (and potentially credits towards) the Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education).

    Please, note that a Working With Children Check (WWCC) is required for anyone who works or volunteers in child-related work in NSW.
