Government Subsidised Courses

First Base Training has been approved by the NSW Government to provide subsidised training for eligible learners.

Eligible learners may study these qualifications in the classroom as a student or via a traineeship as a trainee.


You may be eligible for Smart and Skilled funding if you are:

  • an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian permanent humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen
  • 15 years old or over
  • no longer at secondary/high school
  • living or working in NSW

Enrolment Process

To check your eligibility and student fees, students first fill in our Personal Information and Consent Form. To obtain this form,please contact First Base Training to receive the form via email or in-person at our head office.

Upon enrolment, students will need to provide:

  • Proof of identity such as an Australian Birth Certificate, Australian Passport, or Green Medicare
  • Centrelink evidence (if you are a concession welfare recipient)
  • Evidence of training support needs if disabled (if applicable)
  • Letter from an Employment Service Provider (if you have been long term unemployed for over 12 months)
Obtaining a Unique Student Identifier (USI)

Students studying nationally recognised vocational education and training (VET) qualifications in Australia needs a unique student identifier (USI).

If you already have a USI, you will need to provide it to First Base Training when enrolling.

You may apply for USI online by following the steps outlined in the USI website .Alternatively, you may give permission to First Base Training during enrolmentso that we may assist you in obtaining a USI.
